Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program, designed by a specialty-trained vestibular physical therapist, to improve balance and reduce problems related to dizziness.
This therapy retrains the brain so that the incorrect sensations of motion generated by the inner ear are corrected. The therapy consists of various exercises designed to improve visual orientation, ocular motor skills, balance, and gait.

Vestibular Treatment Plan

Vestibular Therapy FAQ
Most frequent questions and answers
Vestibular exercises merely stimulate the vestibular apparatus. This stimulation produces information to be processed by the brain. The goal of repeating these exercises is for the brain to learn to tolerate and interpret this type of stimulation accurately.
Vestibular rehabilitation therapy typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, attending therapy 1 or 2 times each week. However, some patients can successfully address their issues with balance or dizziness in just 1 or 2 sessions of treatment and can see results in as little as 48 hours.
As you perform your exercises, you may feel a temporary but manageable increase in dizziness, and sometimes, nausea or sickness after doing the exercises. As the brain attempts to sort out the new pattern of movements, this reaction is normal.
