Vestibular Therapy in North Vancouver
Dizziness, vertigo, or feeling unsteady can make daily activities difficult. Our Lonsdale clinic offers vestibular physiotherapy assessment to help identify suitable next steps.
What is vestibular therapy?
The vestibular system in your inner ear helps with balance and steadiness during movement. Vestibular rehabilitation uses exercises tailored to problems with this system. Dizziness has many possible causes, so assessment comes first.
Care matched to your symptoms
Tell your physiotherapist when symptoms occur, how long they last, and whether head movements trigger them. Assessment may include balance, eye movement, and positional testing. Some findings may require further medical assessment.
Dizziness with new trouble speaking, weakness, or double vision needs emergency medical care. Call 911 instead of waiting for a physiotherapy appointment.
What to expect at your appointment
Describe your dizziness
Bring notes about triggers, recent changes, medications, and any previous assessment.
Complete appropriate testing
Your clinician will explain each test and ask for consent. Some tests can briefly reproduce symptoms.
Discuss a treatment plan
Depending on the findings, care may include balance exercises or positional treatment for BPPV. Your clinician will explain any home exercises and follow-up.
Vestibular Therapy FAQs
Can vestibular therapy help with BPPV?
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one possible cause of vertigo. If assessment supports BPPV, a clinician may use repositioning movements. Not all dizziness is BPPV.
Will I receive exercises at my first appointment?
If suitable, your physiotherapist will explain exercises matched to the assessment findings. The plan may instead involve further assessment or referral.
Should I mention dizziness when I book?
Yes. Tell our Lonsdale team you are booking for dizziness, vertigo, or balance concerns so they can help you choose an appropriate appointment.
How much does vestibular therapy cost at Lonsdale?
The published rate is $100 for 30 minutes. Prices from Jane, subject to change. Confirm the appropriate appointment and current fee in Jane or with the clinic before booking.
Do I need a referral, and can you direct bill?
Easy Allied Health does not require a doctor's referral, but your extended health plan may. Direct billing is available for many plans. Confirm your treatment coverage and any referral requirements with your insurer before your visit.
